Cumberland County Urges Residents to Prepare for Potential Impacts from Hurricane Lee

High wind, significant rain and potential coastal and stream flooding Cumberland County

High wind, significant rain, rough seas and pounding surf, and coastal flooding are expected. Potential exists for flash flooding and small stream flooding. Power outages could occur due to damaged trees. Residents should be prepared for coastal flooding to close low-lying roads and roads near the waterfront.

The Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) urges residents to prepare ahead of this storm.

Given the strong winds forecasted, residents are encouraged to remove or secure objects in their yard that could become airborne; such as decorations, deck furniture and garbage cans on decks and porches.

For downed power lines, report it to CMP. Reminder to never touch a downed power line or a tree in contact with a downed line. Regional emergency shelters may open in several Maine counties. Please visit MEMA’s website to find out if emergency shelters open or dial 2-1-1.
